Montgomery
Hospitality Industry

Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Montgomery area.

The two Alabama River communities of East Alabama and New Philadelphia merged to form Alabama’s central and capital city of Montgomery in the early 1880s. The historic capital of the South, Jefferson Davis became president of the Confederacy here in 1861, and Rosa Parks refused to ride in the back of the bus about a hundred years later. In 1910, the Wright brothers founded the first school for pilots of powered planes, and in the late 1800s, Montgomery was the first town with an electric streetcar system. State government is Montgomery’s main industry now, and the downtown riverfront area showcases the best of Alabama culture and southern cuisine, most enjoyably explored with Montgomery’s system of original, open-air trolley cars. For a beautiful break from the urban environment, one of the best open-air aviaries in the country should be explored at the 40-acre, natural habitat-style Montgomery Zoo.
